PLANET NAME: Corellia, Corell System
LOCATION: Corellian Sector
CLIMATE: Temperate grasslands, with polar ice
caps.
LENGTH OF DAY (STD HOURS): 25
LENGTH OF YEAR (LOCAL DAYS): 329
SENTIENT SPECIES: Humans (native to Corellia),
Selonians (native to Selonia) and Drall (native to Drall)
OTHER SPECIES: Multiple.
MILITARY VALUE: A planetary survey of Corellia
may seem redundant, when shipyards have already been
installed around the planet with a sizeable garrison
being placed on the ground, but I argue that a complete
planetary survey is only possible if every single planet
is included, discounting whether or not they have already
been developed by Imperial interests. This report therefore
will seem somewhat redundant, but it is necessary to
maintain a complete listing of all habitable planets
in the Empire.
Perhaps the largest reason for Corellia's military
value is that it offers a direct route to the Core,
and more specifically Coruscant. It is located within
a small enough distance from Imperial Center that it
would be feasible for a blockade to keep itself supplied
relying solely on supplies delivered via the planet.
Thus, its military importance is unquestionable, particularly
given the recent increase in Rebel activity; were Corellia
to fall into insurrectionist hands, it would be a crippling
blow to the Empire's security grid.
The central nature of Corellia has made it into one
of the trading hubs of the entire Empire; indeed, raw
materials from the Outer Rim are shipped through Corellia,
which then ships it to factory worlds. These worlds
then ship the finished materiel through Corellia to
other worlds in the Empire where it is used and sold
to the civilian population.
This abundance of raw minerals and fuel has led to
the construction of massive shipyards orbiting Corellia;
indeed, the shipyards are renowned throughout the Empire
for quality construction and reliability. A side-note;
it has been confirmed by sources placed within fringe
organizations that a source within the shipyards has
been releasing ships to said organizations for large
sums of money. It is therefore recommended that Intelligence
investigate and eliminate this problem as soon as possible.
OTHER NOTES: Perhaps the most interesting feature
of Corellia, and indeed the Corell system is the theory
that has been forth which seems to signify that the
entire system was artificially manufactured by a civilization
more ancient than the Republic. The theory was put forth
by a team of Republic researchers who observed that
the perfect nature of the orbits in the system were
not replicated in any other inhabited system in the
known galaxy. The specific orbit, they theorized, would
not have allowed the planet to support life initially;
thus, the planet would have needed to be brought in
after its formation. The theory continues to mention
that the massive space station located between the double-worlds
of Talus and Tralus was likely an instrument in this
formation. We therefore recommend that a research team
be dispatched immediately; the station could have military
applications that are not currently evident.
Corellia itself is a world rife with a great variety
of life. From the various flora which covers its lush
ground, such as the razor grass which can cut through
thick fabric to the great variety of medicinal herbs
and other beneficial plants, to the equally diverse
fauna which includes some of the most vicious marine
life in the galaxy, small piranhas which can strip a
man's flesh in mere moments, Corellia seems to have
enjoyed a near-impossible climate that can house any
number of different life-forms.
Archaeologically, Corellians do not seem to share
the fanaticism with their past that characterizes so
many other human civilizations. This is perhaps due
to the extroversive nature of the society; aside from
the Drall and Selonians, sentient life did not exist
on the planet until after the arrival of Republic settlers.
Upon arrival, the settlers immediately established trading
routes, and the planet became home to two sorts of people;
the pilots, traders, and mercenaries that found convenience
in their easy access to customers who were passing through
the planetary system, and those who performed support
functions for them.
The Corellian base is perhaps the most important Core
base that is currently under Imperial control, save
for Coruscant and Borleias. Though the people have not
shown any great evidence of insurrectionist leanings,
some revolutionary movements have already established
bases on the planet. It is recommended by this team
that these bases be crushed without delay, and the personnel
questioned then disposed of. Were Corellia to fall,
it would be a terrible blow against the war machine
of the Empire, and thus it cannot be allowed to occur.
