A retired Jedi Knight, the grandfather of a Force-sensitive girl, has gone missing. Young Lorla Thisteen journeys throughout the galaxy, searching for him, the only “parent” she’s ever known. Accompanying Lorla on her quest is her alien companion, Tonkah, a Wookiee whose life was saved more than once by the missing Jedi.

Until recently, Lorla Thisteen worked in a waste reclamation plant on a “backwater world.” Her grandfather raised her since the loss of her parents, and it was he who began her training in the ways of the Jedi. She is loyal, honest, and a good person, although ignorant of the ways of the universe. Tonkah the Wookiee has joined her in her search for her missing grandfather.

Tonkah the Wookiee was a slave in the Empire. A Jedi Knight, who had recently come out of retirement, saved his life and rescued him from the Empire’s clutches. Tonkah vowed to protect and serve this man, named Lewl Thisteen, and his family forevermore. At the end of a particularly ferocious battle, Tonkah and the Jedi were separated, but not before he instructed the Wookiee to return to the Thisteen home and protect his granddaughter.

Once a Jedi Knight, Lewl Thisteen retired long ago to a quiet life. Recent events have changed all that, however, as his conscience will no longer allow him to ignore the cruel domination of the Empire over the entire galaxy. Lewl ventured out into space, having decided to help the Rebellion against the Empire, but hasn’t returned to his home in some time.

Lewl Thisteen is being sought not only by his granddaughter and their Wookiee friend, but also by a mysterious droid named 3-L337. Why does 3-L337 seek Lewl? In his own words: “I intend to kill him.”
