The official FAQ labels service droids as droids that assist in the construction, repair and maintanence of items, vehicles and structures. The following droids could possibly fall into this category.

Astromech droid: R2 Model

No job is over this little guy's head. This is one of the most popular droids on the market due to its versatility. Not only is it designed to work in and around space vessels as a diagnostic and repair unit, but it can also fit into a standard astromech socket found on X-wing and Y-wing spacecrafts. The following is a list of tools and specs that will most likely be included on R2 models.
  • Electric arc welder and circular saw
  • Holographic projector
  • Intellex IV computer system
  • Over 700 spacecraft configurations
  • Electromagnetic field sensor unit
  • All standard utility equipment
  • Zero-gee maneuvering jets

Astromech Droid: R5 Model

One word can describe an R5 Droid: cheap. The least expensive droid on the market, the R5 is a very basic version of it's cousin, the R2. In fact, some would call the R5 series the first true flop from Industrial Automaton. Consumers reported the droid as having many major mechanical and behavioral problems including chronic overheating, jammed servos, and disagreeable personalities. The developers have released a screenshot of an R5 droid, so it will probably be in the game. Whether or not you will want to actually own one is a different story.
  • Holographic Projector
  • Broadband Antenna
  • Electromagnetic Field Sensor Unit
  • Spacecraft Linkage and Repair arms
  • Loudspeaker
  • Interference Pulse Stabilizers
  • Self cooling mechanism

Asp Droids

Due to its affordable price, incredible versatility, and long operational life, the Asp series is probably the most sighted droid in the galaxy. The Asp can do virtually any simple task asked of it and is perfect for the citizen who does not need the complexity of a pricey R2 model. It features powerful hydraulic powered limbs which make the droids capable cargo loaders. Despite its usefulness, the Asp droid is not the brightest model on the market, and as such, many owners modify their units to their liking. The following is a list of possible specs.
  • Hydraulic joints
  • Reinforced joints
  • Limited Vocabulator
  • Rudimnentary cognitive module
  • Alloy limb castings

LE Repair Droid

The LE series is a very ambitious attempt by Cybot Galactice to combine the personality of a protocol unit with the utitlity of an Astromech. While expensive, the LE is very useful especially in Starports and Starships where they are master repairmen. Each unit comes with extensive databases on hyperdrives, acceleration compensators, artificial gravity and all other componets seen on a starship. Each LE stands about 1.7 meters tall and like protocol droids are very humanlike in design. With enough programming, an LE droid can competently manage starfighters, airspeeders, and even Capital ships.
  • Phototreceptors and Standard Auditory Sensors
  • Broadband Antenna Receiver
  • Advanced Vocabulator
  • Diagnostic Display Screen
  • Three-fingered Servogrip on each hand
  • Durasteel shell

EG-6 Power Droid

One of the stranger looking droids out there, the EG-6 power droid is a vital part of life in the galaxy. It is basically a fusion generator on legs, or "walking batteries" as some put it. They are a common sight on starships and in ship hangars. Power droids provide energy to mechanical devices when access to a permanent power grid is not available.
  • Universal plug-in port
  • Visual sensor
  • Acoustic signaler capable of droid and computer languages
  • Sophisticated systems diagnostic package to prevent accidental explosions
  • Manipulator arm
  • Heavily armored systems housing with insulated leg sheaths
  • Self cooling mechanism

CLL-8 Binary Load Lifter

This is one of the droids that will almost surely be in the game since we have seen a screenshot of it. The CLL-8 is so slow witted, it can barely be called a droid at all. One of the oldest droids in existence, the 3 meter tall binary load lifter looks like an undersized Imperial scout walker, stomping around determinedly on two jointed legs. A lifter's greatest asset is its strength, but its lack of intelligence is its major drawback. The droids never stray from their orders, but they lack the smarts to modify those orders if the situation demands it.
  • Gyro-Stabilized Joints
  • Binary Acoustic Signaler
  • Durasteel Systems Housing
  • Cargo Support Bars
  • Hydraulic Limbs
  • Simple Binary Vocabulator
