By Aeirk

Dantooine in my opinion is one of prettier planets. The interior is mostly prairie and fields with rolling hills and lakes. There are also a lot of rivers and what appear to be old roads. The prairies are mostly of flowers and grass with some trees here and there. The southwest and southeast are the areas that I like to refer to as the wheat fields. They are made up mostly of golden color grass with some trees and flowers. It is also here that you will find the rock gardens (strange outcroppings of rock). This is one of the nicer areas of Dantooine. In the northeast you will find the “forested” areas of Dantooine. No real big trees though. The mountains to the west are huge. All the mountains are made up mostly of rock and brown grass.

Creatures and humanoids:

(The MOBS are about CL 60-80 - definately one of the hardest planets.)

There are 4 different native tribes that inhabit Dantooine. They are the Dantari, Kunga, Janta and Mokk. They are all non-aggressive but you cannot speak to them. You will most likely find the Dantari (raiders) near modern tents even though they are dressed in animal skins. All the tribes tend to be pretty segregated. The Kunga hunters you will occasionally find by themselves. You have to be careful because it could just as easily be a voritor.

Voritors – These lizards come in my shapes and sizes. They are also one of the more dangerous of the Danooine fauna. I highly recommend staying away from them unless you are hunting in a group. At least 2 of the voritor types are trackers. Some of the types are vexed voritor lizard, voritor trackers and slinking voritor hunters. Sometimes they are solitary creatures. The voritor dasher is probably the fastest animal on Dantooine.

Bols – Large herbivore type creatures. I found them to not be aggressive. There are several types some of which are bol scout, packrunner, seething bol crusher (probably aggressive)

Huurton – Dog like creatures. They are very aggressive like the voritors and at least one of them tracks. I tried not to come very close to them. I read earlier in a post that they have a 90 meter aggro range but I found that you can get within 35 meters of them and be fine. There are the several different types of Huurtons like the huntress, pup, and stalker.

Quenkers: Little armored rats. I am not sure if they are aggressive or not. I have had them run under my feet a couple of times and not attack me. They are usually solitary.

Horned jungle lizard – a lot like the voritor. I have always wondered why there was a jungle creature in the middle of a prairie planet. Another very aggressive lizard

Pickets: These long neck heard animals remind me of giraffes. You see them almost every where on the planet. They are pretty docile except for the fierce piket protector. I have ran through the middle of them and not been attacked. So they are on average non-aggressive. There are several types of these including the fierce picket protector, longhorn female and just the plain longhorn.

Grauls: These creatures can be found on couple of other planets. They are huge muscular aggressive bi-pedal creatures. There are several varieties of them on Dantooine.

Thunes: Elephant type animals. Tend to be non-aggressive. Sometimes they are in small herds but sometimes they can be alone.

An untrained wielder of the dark side: They are human females and non-aggressive. I usually only see them in pairs. Unfortunately you cannot talk to them.

Dark side savages: They look like male Trandoshans. Usually found in pairs. They are non-aggressive and you cannot talk with them.

A novice force mystic: Human female with red hair and red dress. They are non-aggressive and you cannot talk to them.

A force crystal hunter: Trandoshan male in bone armor. Solitary, non-aggressive and you cannot talk with them.

A forsaken force drifter: Zabrak (or human) male (most likely) in robe. Usually in pairs and you cannot talk with them.

A force sensitive renegade: Human male. Usually in pairs and you cannot talk with them.

Force sensitive crypt crawlers: Male Twi’leki, non-aggressive, usually in pairs and you cannot talk with them.

A force-trained archaist: Rodian female, non-aggressive and you cannot talk with them. Usually alone.

You will find outposts of thieves and assassins some of which are mission targets. The closer you get the edge of the map you more likely you are to run into stranded or abandoned rebels. There are also dark Jedi knights and masters on Dantooine as well as dark adepts.

Interesting landmarks (I am missing at least one step pyramid and this is most definitely not a complete list of all landmarks. There are several type of structures you will see on Dantooine. There are those structures that look like they were built by the natives. There are light colored stone structures that are some what refined. Then there are the dark stone structures are just like those at the Jedi Temple. I tend to refer to them as the Jedi era structures.):

Mining outpost with space port: -617, 2515
Agro Outpost with space port: 1567, 6417
Imperial Outpost with space port: -4209, 2354

Jedi Temple and Academy (4154, 5254): This is really an island (no not the one near the mining outpost either) with a huge waterfall. There is a long column procession down the middle with ruined buildings on either side that leads to the Jedi temple. The temple is mostly gone with only a staircase remaining which has collapsed in the middle. Very cool place

Adobe style arch with flames coming out the top (2885, 4482): This is on a small outcrop of land on a small lake. No other ruins visible.

Stone outcropping of rock with a totem in front of it (338, 5543): You see several of these around Dantooine.

Lake Platform with 2 native huts on it (1033, 3606): This looks like a great spot to fish. =) It isn’t too far from the mining town.

3 carved heads along lake(2317,6196): I couldn’t get too close to these because of volitors so the coordinates put you in the middle of the lake.

Fenced in pond with totem and animal skeleton(-202, 5955): This one was just plain weird because there is no rhyme or reason for the pond to be fenced in. There is an animal’s head inside the fence that faces the water.

Two carved heads with one laying down (-292, 6883)

A step pyramid (-897, 6883): there are several of these pyramids doting the land. They all have a small stone alter.

Tent (Native)(-1587, 5486): This is unlike the tents for the dynamic spawns

Four stone arches that form a box (5900, -16): The stone work on these arches are like the pyramids and not the Jedi ruins that you find. Also has a totem outside one of the arches.

Jedi era arch (hooded person holding sword upright) overlooking lake (1158, 5752): Don’t remember seeing any other ruins here besides the arch.

Huge abandoned Rebel base that Princess Leia mentions (near -6947, 5614): This base is huge. It really feels like it had been abandoned in a hurry to.

Large head like the ones you find on Naboo (-6952, 5614): There are like 3 of these heads around Dantooine, at least that I have found. They are exactly like the ones found on Naboo.

Large sharp pointed stones arranged in a line with fence (-7236, 4324): This reminded me of some type of boundary maybe between one of the tribes.

Jedi era ruins (basically one building) (446, 4646): There are several of these ruined buildings around.

Buried step pyramid with alter still exposed (130, 5242): This is the only buried pyramid that I know of.

Large head like the ones you find on Naboo buried in the side of hill overlooking a lake (-1189, 4156): This one also has one column next to it like the ones you find in the Jedi era builds and a totem at the top of the hill. The coordinates I gave actually put you in the lake b/c there is usually a spawn near the head.

Carved head with 3 Jedi era columns around it (-4974, 6386): You don’t see many mixing of native structures and non-native structures but this is one. It is on top of a hill.

A set of stone arches that zig-zag up to a stone disk (-6143, 4675): This is a very interesting set of arches that zig-zag up the hill until you come to this stone disk (shaped more like spearhead). I was here fairly early in my exploration so I don’t know if anything has changed since last two major patches.

Jedi area causeway across a lake (-3127, 3394): Besides the Jedi temple this is probably my favorite structure. There are Jedi style arches at either end with columns lining the causeway.

Ruined building (maybe Jedi era) (-2421, 3370): I didn’t get too close to this building at the time because there was volitor nest right next to it. Three ruined walls remain.

Set of columns across river (237, 2171): Might have been a bridge at one time. Just ruins now. (Jedi era)

Buried Jedi era arch (897, 1393): This is the only buried arch that I have found. It is neat because you can get right up to the statue holding the sword.

Two carved heads facing each other across a small gorge (actually one of the “roads”) (-5549, 4507): To me it looks like they mark some type of boundary.

Circle of sharp pointed stones (-4553, 2728): Nothing else here or inside the circle

Jedi era building on top of a hill (-4495, 1636): Mostly only the columns remain

Somewhat buried disk (like above) with two large logs on either side (-5389, 1387): Could never figure these disk out.

Wood bridge and fence (5270, -4573): This is one of the craziest things I found. It is a bridge between two very small hills and then there is a fence that leads down the other side of the hill.

3 totems forming a triangle (with a tree in the middle) (-712, 1463)

Mountain top lake (small) (-647, 675)

3 carved heads on a small island all facing outward (3087, 1217)

Large native village (-3841, -5749): The time I was here there were no villagers. I made the feedback in my post on the Dantooine focus test so maybe there are villagers now.

Another large native village on one of the larger lakes (-7212, -806): The time I was here there were no villagers. I made the feedback in my post on the Dantooine focus test so maybe there are villagers now.

Carved head with 2 torches in front (next to the village above)

Adobe hut (no entrance) with large metal pipe out the top and smoke rising from the pipe (-2004, 1243) There is also a totem outside the structure.

Jedi era circle of ruined columns (2077, 5334)

Ruined building (maybe Jedi era) (5019, 6841)

2 native huts in semi wooded area: (4873, 4508)

Stone arch that leads to a Naboo style head with several carved heads on each side facing inward (4630, 3643): This is one of the more interesting landmarks on Dantooine

Stone head about to fall in to a lake (-478, 2075)

Jedi era building and arch on Island near the mining camp (-781, 2087): It is a very interesting structure but there is always a creature’s nest on the island

Ruined stone build (not Jedi era) (-1473, 2669)

Step pyramid with carved head on top (-3409, 2913): This one doesn’t have an alter if I remember right

Columns leading up to an arch way (Jedi era) (-4217, 4235)

3 carved heads and 2 totems on hill (-3648, 3971)
Animal heads stacked on top of one another with one totem (-1818, 3794)

Small hill with spiked stone outcroppings (-2480, 4599)

Rock outcropping (not natural) (563, 1873)

Native hut with 2 totems and a fenced in coral (3181, 5967)

Native huts:

(1586, 5959)
(-6028, 1123)
(-5784, 3421)
(-6196, 2670)
(1927, 1467)
(-2015, 1432)
(-4436, 5295)
(-7085, -6149)
