    Bounty Hunter Missions

One different and exciting area of content you get to access as a Bounty Hunter is the Bounty Hunter Mission Terminal. By using this terminal, you can browse through the listings of bounties posted by all sorts of organizations, from the Hutts to the Galactic Empire!

A listing of the best and most convenient spots for Bounty Hunter Terminals and informants of all levels can be found at the end of this guide.

These bounty missions will start off relatively simple, and gradually become more complex and difficult as you gain experience.

You will be chasing Novice marks until you reach Combat Level 42. For these missions, simply accept a bounty off the terminal listing, then proceed to one of the many novice level Informants, or Spynet Ops. Once you speak with your informant, you’ll receive a waypoint to your mark. Proceed there to collect his head! The beauty of Novice marks is that they will always be local targets- no hopping planets is necessary. They are usually a quick shuttle ride away, and I’ve even been lucky enough to receive one a mere 150 meters away before!

At Combat Level 42 you graduate to Standard marks, and things get a little trickier. The first thing you will need to do now is go to the nearest Bazaar Terminal and buy yourself a factory crate of Arakyd Probe Droids. Make sure you’re doing a Vendor Location search throughout the Entire Galaxy, and you will find them under the heading Misc-->Factory Crates-->Arakyd Probe Droid. You will also want to buy a crate of Seeker Droids the same way. Alternately, if you know a good Engineer you could just contact them directly.

Your old Spynet contacts will no longer be able to help you with such a hot target, and you must seek out Standard level informants. So, after pulling a contract from the terminal and speaking with your new Spynet Op, he will give you their Biological Signature. Note that you won’t receive a waypoint at this time. In order to get the target’s location, you must leave city limits and use your Arakyd Probe Droid control device to “Request a Probe Droid.” Roughly 20 seconds later, you will notice an arrival countdown in your text box. Keep your eyes open for the explosion as your droid touches down nearby. In some areas, using your radar to find the white dot of the droid can be helpful. Move to the droid, pull up your radial menu, and choose “Transmit Biological Signature.” Your droid will fly off to find your mark. This is a good time to head back to the nearest starport and get ready to travel. A few minutes later you will be informed what planet your mark is on, travel there and you should see a waypoint where your probe located the target. Marks are often on the move, so you will need to use a Seeker Droid from your inventory. Choose the “Track Bounty Target” option, and soon you should have a waypoint. Head out and collect!

At Combat Level 82, you will gain access to Master marks. The process for tracking your mark is exactly the same, although your Standard contacts will no longer work, and you’ll want to find some Master level Spynet Ops. These marks will also increase in difficulty, so be ready!

    Player Bounties

As a Bounty Hunter you have the unique ability to take out Bounty Missions on other players. You may start this as low as Combat Level 22, and will only be given missions in your Combat Level range.

    • You may start Player Bounty missions as low as CL22, and will only be given marks in your level range.
    • Player Bounties are tracked through Informants and Droids just like NPC marks.
    • Whenever a player kills another player in PVP(Galactic Civil War, Guild War, or killing a Bounty Mark/Killing a Bounty Hunter who attacks you), they accumulate a small amount of credits on their bounty, this is thought to be roughly 1000 credits.
    • A player killed in PVP combat(GCW and Guild War only) may place an additional bounty from their bank account of at least 20,000 credits and no more than 2 billion.
    • Once enough bounty is accumulated, roughly 15,000, the player will then show up on the Bounty Hunter Mission Terminals as a ‘PvP Operative.’ Missions are listed anonymously.
    • Up to three different hunters can have one mark’s mission at the same time, and are able to attack him at the same time.
    • If the hunter succeeds in killing his mark, credits are deposited in his account and his mission is successful. If he fails, his mission is removed.
    • After enough kills, Bounty Hunters WILL show up on the terminals.

    Mission Terminals and Informants

The terminals and informants you use will be changing dependant on your Combat Level, and while there are terminals and Spynet Operatives spread throughout the galaxy, what I am doing here is listing the most convenient and popular hotspots that hunters use at various levels. A quick online search should provide an exhaustive list of every known Bounty Hunter Mission Terminal and informant in the galaxy, should you need it!

There are a number of great places to hunt from as a Novice hunter(CL1-41), the first and most obvious choice is everyone’s favorite hive of scum and villainy, Mos Eisley Spaceport, on Tattooine. You will find the mission terminals in an alley behind the Cantina here, and you’ll find your informant standing against the back side of a building, in the main starport courtyard here. You can visit him on the way to grab your shuttle tickets!

The next popular spot for Novice hunters is the city of Daeric, on Talus. The mission terminal is right out front of the cloner, here. Your informant is right out front of the starport, and will be on your left as you exit the front entrance. Similar in distance to the setup in Mos Eisley, this route should take you about 20 seconds on a swoop bike.

My personal favorite spot for taking missions as a Novice hunter was the jewel and capitol of the Corellia system, Coronet. Here, right out front of the Capitol Building, you will find a pair of fountains, with a Bounty Hunter Mission Terminal and a Spynet Operative standing right there! As you can see here, I am standing in a spot right between them, which will enable you to pull a mission from the terminal, and get your target’s location from the informant without moving an inch! You can use this to quickly search through missions for a nearby mark, if you wish to do so.

Another spot for novices is the Bounty Hunting Mecca that is Kadaara, Naboo. Hunters of all levels tend to flock here (when there are player bounties to be had) because the Bounty Hunter Mission Terminals are literally right out front of the starport entrance, and the city harbors informants of all levels. Compound this with the fact that all the informants are close to city limits, and you’ve got the recipe for a true Bounty Hunter hotspot. Your novice level informant will be in an enclosure with power generators of all kinds, shown here. Hunting from Kadaara may not be the fastest way to go about things as a novice, but I’d definitely recommend doing a few missions here and becoming familiar with the layout of the city, as you’ll likely be spending a lot of time here!

Once you start on Standard marks, your choices narrow a little, as informants become harder to find and the availability of close city limits becomes important so you can quickly call your probe droids. There are, however, still some great spots- ones you ought to be somewhat familiar with by now.

Mos Eisley and Coronet don’t have any informants with the contacts to help with the marks you’re after now, so your first option is Daeric. Your new informant is in a back alley between a pair of buildings just past the Junk Dealer in the Northwest corner of the city, here. It does seem out of the way at first, however he is along the way heading out of town to launch a probe, so it works well.

The next spot is, of course, Kadaara. Your new informant is waiting in a small alley just inside the city wall near the Parking Garage, here. After seeing him, continue out of town to call an Arakyd droid.

When going after Master level targets, your locations are the same, but your informants move once again.

In Daeric, your new contact is, conveniently enough, right behind the Cloning Facility, here. There is another master informant right next to the door on the launchpad of the starport, here.

In Kadaara, your informant is next to a set of buildings along the side of the starport, actually very close to your Novice level informant, here.

There is also a nice spot just outside Mos Eisley, here, where a Master level informant hangs out, and you can also call Probe Droids from the same spot, making it really convenient. The only problem is that the area is littered with rocks, and if you’re unfortunate enough to have a droid land in a rock you will have to wait for it to self-destruct before you can call another.

    PvP Operative Bounty Hunting Tips

First things first: Your marks got a price on their heads by killing their opponents in PvP combat, and the ones that amass a larger bounty usually did so by killing a LOT of people. This ought to tell you, if you didn’t already know, that you’ll most likely be going up against some tough opponents. In hunting bounties, you will probably have run-ins with players who are known as some of the best PvPers on your server, which can be daunting to say the least! Fortunately, there are a lot of things you can do to hedge your bet and help your chances of pulling off a win.

    • Gearing Up

Before you head out after other players, you will want to acquire the best equipment available.

First of all, with Armor Certifications removed in Publish 28, you are no longer restricted in the type of armor you employ, which vastly improves your chances against the full array of professions out there. While philosophies on hunting armors differ, a common theme seems to be to carry a suit of Energy Layered Recon armor, and a suit of Kinetic Layered Assault armor. This way, as you stalk your mark you can see what weapons he uses, and plan what protection you need accordingly: if your mark is a Jedi, wear recon for high energy protection from that Lightsaber. If the mark is a Spy who is using a Nym’s Slugthrower, your assault armor is the better choice. Personally, I prefer a Primus Layered Assault suit, as you’re not quite as vulnerable if your opponent pulls an energy weapon on you. I also carry a Primus Layered suit of Battle armor, in case I’m not sure what to expect from an opponent.

Going hand in hand with your armor is a Personal Shield Generator, or PSG. Get the best one you can find, and keep it on at all times. It doesn’t look nearly as stylish as a lot of belts, but in this case you just have to sacrifice some extra appearance for protection, otherwise you’re opening yourself up to get blasted by all those high-powered energy weapons out there.

As far as weapons, you should carry a ranged Kinetic weapon, such as Nym’s Slugthrower Carbine, and a nice, high quality ranged Energy weapon like a Sfor Republic Carbine v3 or Guardian Lightning Cannon. Also make sure you have a good Kinetic melee weapon on your toolbar, such as a Caller of Storms or Mustafarian Bandit Sword v3.

You should also resist the urge to use one of those high damage, kinetic 75m rifles as your main weapon against players. At the time of this writing most players are experiencing problems with their snares not going off while these are equipped. If you prefer rifles, I’d recommend a Fallann Hyper Rifle, or an LD-1, these are both moderate damage kinetic rifles available from missions on Kashyyyk.
**75m rifles are being “fixed” in Publish 29. It is unknown whether or not this will correct the issues they have with our specials.

Buffs are also VERY important, but really deserve a guide unto themselves. Get to know what buffs do what, and take up which slots. Experiment, and see what works for you. Having the right combination of crystals, foods, spices, stims, bracers, etc. can mean the difference between a payday and a trip to the cloner.

    • Stalking Your Mark

How you go about tracking your mark can definitely affect your chances of success, although exactly how you do so will depend on your personal style. Some hunters prefer to be secretive and stay in the background, others like to rush in with guns blazing. Personally, I prefer to get as close as I can in order to drop that wicked Razor Net, which can be tricky.

After you pull your mission and launch a probe, I usually fly to Coronet, which is my server’s PvP hotspot, although for many it will probably be Theed. Bring up your map and look for red, look for someone you know and start small talk, head to the bazaar, bank, or whatever. If you see your mark you’ve saved some time, if not, no worries. Just wait for your probe to return with a planet. Keep in mind, many hunters prefer NEVER to fly directly to their mark’s location, especially one like Theed that loads you in the open, but shuttling or driving in to avoid notice. If you’ve respecced from another profession, you could try to mimic that profession to get closer. I am and Elder Entertainer, and sometimes throw on a skirt and my tag to sneak around. Once you develop a reputation, tricks like these become increasingly hard to pull off, as regular PvPers will be on guard as soon as they see you.

Having a good network of friends, preferably who PvP, and whom you can trust, is invaluable as a Bounty Hunter. If you don’t know who your mark is, they can often help you by telling you what profession he is, how skilled a fighter he is, what tricks he might use, etc. If you are a starting hunter, joining an active PvP or Bounty Hunter guild is a definite advantage for just this reason. Keep in mind, as a member of a Bounty Hunter guild you will lose a lot of surprise on opponents, as you will be easily recognizable as a hunter no matter what.

No matter who the mark is, you should ALWAYS “/ex mark” first off. If you can face the other way without looking conspicuous, do that. You don’t want to be caught with your head tracking the mark, it can be a dead giveaway. Usually I target something else after the window comes up, like a friend I’m chatting with or a terminal I’m pretending to use. A crafty mark will run past you to see if your head follows him. A lot about his appearance will help you plan your attack. What kind of armor is he using? Recon? Pull out your kinetic weapons. Is he wearing a belt? If he is, that means he isn’t using a PSG, and you should probably use your best energy weapon. What weapon is he using? Choose the armor you wear accordingly. Look at his buffs. Which ones does he have active, and how many? How long do they have left? You may be able to catch your mark while he suffers from spice withdrawals, or once his Wild Force Shard wears off if you are patient. Mouse over his health bar. How much health does he have compared to what you already know your fully buffed health is? Does he have any cyber arms? If so, what kind? Those will almost definitively tell you what kind of a fighter he is. A shock arm means he will probably try to catch you in melee, while ranged arms mean you’ll be getting kited.

Most importantly, what profession is your mark? This is probably the most vital piece of information you can get. It will dictate how you fight your mark, and the strategies you employ.

    • Strategies vs. Other Professions****

Medic- This is a tough profession, and will be a ranged fight. Unless you have an overwhelming advantage for some reason, going melee is asking to lose. The biggest deciding factor in this fight is: who gets their bleed attack on the other. If both hit with their bleeds, all other things being equal, you will probably lose. You simply can’t out-heal him. Your first strike is key, drop that razor net on your mark and RUN. A Burstrun Stim is great for this, if you don’t mind sacrificing the buff slot. If you keep him snared, and don’t get lured into his poison gas, it should not be a difficult win.

Bounty Hunter- This is another profession, like Medic, whose strength lies in a really mean AOE bleed attack. Keeping this one snared after your Razor net wears off is more important, as he can snare you and return the bleed favor if you don’t. However, the lack of superior healing means that, if you are comfortable with it, you can take him on in a straight melee or straight ranged fight; for instance, if you catch a hunter in recon armor or without a PSG, or if you attack while he’s hunting another mark.

Spy- These have been some of my toughest fights. They have a brutal ranged snare(better than Cripple), and can often cloak to heal, depending on where you choose to attack. Crowded areas are the best choice, as they will have a hard time getting clear to use their stealth. Two things to keep on your toolbar: Detect Camouflage, and your Bacta Tank, if you have it(from the Publish 28 Gifts). If you are low on health and your opponent cloaks, hit that Bacta and you will be at full health. Then hit Detect Camouflage. With any luck, you’ll reveal him. This is, like all marks, one you definitely want to place that Razor Net on. In addition to snaring and damaging him, the bleed graphic will stay on your spy while he is cloaked. When he does so, run over and drop your Web Bomb to reveal him, and start spamming your ranged specials. Remember to be careful, as they also have a poison gas AOE bleed that you don’t want to get hit by.

This guide was written before publish 29, so it could use some updating, especially regarding bh missions(spynet informants are no longer necessary to visit) and the expertise system. It will be up ASAP :)

1.All PvP Bounty missions are rated with a "100" difficulty, regardless of the marks level. You won't know how difficult it will be until you find your mark.
2.If you are killed by your mark, the bounty on him/her will still be found on the terminals (as long as they're online). This is good if you're determined to get them, but bad if you want a new mark and find yourself up against the same mark. The only clue at the terminal is the prize amount and the faction description, and there may be as many as three marks that are identical as regards prize/faction
    3. I dont know if this applies to active faction members (I'm a civilian) but you're mark will be the only player that you CAN attack (no green icon). On my second of such missions I actually had a short conversation with my mark before realising what he was.
    4. Half of the marks -being active Imps/Rebels- tend to turn up at Restuss. As a civilian I immediately abandon such missions as I don't have access to the PvP area where the mark is more than likely to be located.
    5. You can't use seeker droids on Mustafar or Kashyyyk

11 kills in 4 days so far, 8 of them CL 80+. High level players happily make the mistake of feeling invulnerable to hunters of my level (62). But catch them when they've just lost a friendly duel, or about to lose an unfriendly one, or when they're dumb enough to be AFK or unfortunate enough to be LD...
