Blastech DH-17 Blaster Pistol
BlasTech's DH-17 Blaster Pistol is one of the most common sidearm found in the
galaxy. While this weapon is illegal, many civilians use this weapon for self
defense in harsh systems. Being so common, the weapons is often simply called a
'blaster.'
The blaster is a laser/particle beam weapon. When fired, a small amount of
high-energy blaster gas is shifted from the gas chamber to a gas conversion
enabler (XCter.) In the enabler, the gas is excited using energy from the
weapon's power source, located at a small power pack. This gas passes through
the actuating blaster module, where it is then processed into a beam which is
comprised of intense energy particles coupled with light. The prismatic crystal
housing focuses the beam, which is later focused (a process known as
galvennizing,) and it passes down the blaster's barrel. The beam fired is a
high-energy particle stream that can cause considerable damage to targets, but
the visible light is a harmless byproduct of the reaction.
Being so commonly available, the DH-17 is used as a military sidearm for both
the Imperial Navy and the Rebellion. Having a sturdy and reliable design, the
blaster is very popular with New Republic personnel. The weapon is designed for
short range combat, and can fire at a optimum range of 30 meters and a maximum
range of 120 meters. At optimum range, the firepower can pierce through Stormtrooper armor and penetrate
a low level force field; but not through the hull of a Starship. It is also
ideal for boarding parties and pirates, as a lower power 'stun' setting can put
a human unconscious for up to ten minutes.
The blaster's gas chamber carries enough gas for over five hundred shots, but
it's power pack supplies energy for only one hundred. An experienced user can
change power packs in about five seconds. Drained powerpacks can be recharved
using a generator in about fifteen minutes.
The DH-17 is a semiautomatic gun, which fires each time the trigger is
activated. While the weapon can be modified for automatic fire, the drain caused
to the power pack occurs in less than twenty seconds, and excess heat could melt
the internal components and result in an explosive overload. While the guns are
illegal for non-military personnel, the guns are widely available through black
marked channels
Blastech DL-44 (Heavy Blaster)
The BlasTech DL-44 is a weapons used by gunmen, smugglers, and other dangerous
people with quick reflexes, keen peripheral vision, and a willingness to do
anything for survival. Han Solo was
known for using a modified DL-44 on his adventures. The weapon is extremely
powerful and can kill a human in a single shot. The weapon was also used by
Rebel troops, and the weapon was capable of piercing Stormtrooper armor and
could kill enemy units where other weapons could not.
The DL-44 is a crude weapon which delivers tremendous damage. The weapon can
be held and fired in one hand. The DL-44 can fire at an optimum range of twenty
five meters and a maximum of fifty meters. The blaster's XCiter consumes energy
at four times the rate of the standard blaster, which
drains the power pack after twenty-five shots. Because of this, it is necessary
to aim carefully when firing, or energy will quickly run out. The DL-44's grip
has a vibrating 'cautionary pulser' which silently alerts the user when the
energy can supply five shots or less. A quick release lever and the power pack's
convenient location in front of the trigger allow a very quick replacement of
drained packs. Because of it's excessive power consumption, soldiers are usually
equipped with at least a dozen power packs to ensure adequate ammunition
Blastech E-11 (Stormtrooper Rifle)
Declared to be the standard sidearm of Imperial Stormtroopers, the E-11
offers great range, inflicts heavy damage, and is easy to wield. The E-11 is a
light weapon which permits accurate one handed fire, which allows Stormtroopers
to move unencumbered and use the weapon in close quarters like a pistol. An
extendable sighting stock, the barrel's advanced galven circuitry, and the
computer-enhanced scope which filters out smoke and haze and enhances vision in
low light conditions make the rifle easy to aim and target.
The E-11's range is almost three times greater than the Blaster Pistol. The weapon has an optimum range of one
hundred meters, and a maximum range of the hundred. This range is achived by
using a long barrel, which nearly runs through the length of the entire weapon,
producing a focused and intense particle beam.
Because of the elongated barrel, only the blaster module and the prismatic
crystal are housed behind it. All other components are mounted to either the
side or underneath the galven circuitry, and the gas chamber uses a unique
tubular design which wraps around the back of the barrel. These components are
mounted onto a module which slides out of the back of the weapon for repair or
replacement.
To prevent a heat buildup and possible explosion or meltdown, the
Stormtrooper Rifle's cooling coil force feed a liquid cooling agent called
freelol through and intricate capillary system, which carries heat away from
vital components and into the forward vent capcitator.
A power pack on the side of the E-11 powers enough energy for one hundred
shots. The E-11 can be set to fire a a number of levels, from a simple stun to a
full blast. Using a large quarter-centimeter bore, the E-11 is extremely lethal
when set to maximum power. The weapon has a fully automatic, semi automatic and
pulse fire settings; however, both New Republic soldiers and Imperial
Stormtroopers use the semi automatic setting to conserve ammunition and allow
adequate cooling. Extended automatic fire may also throw the barrel out of
alignment.
The E-11 was sold exclusively to the Empire during the Galactic Civil War,
for Stormtrooper use. The Rebellion managed to acquire thousands of these weapons
through the black market and theft. The E-11 and a similar weapon, called
Stormtrooper One, later renamed to Freedom One, were favorites of New Republic
and Imperial infantry.
BlasTech A280 Blaster Rifle
The BlasTech A280 Blaster Rifle is reported to be the best armor-piercing rifle
available. Evidence has shown that it is capable of splitting a fully-armored
Imperial stormtrooper nearly in half at only medium range. Its power pack is housed
in front of the trigger and holds enough energy for 50 shots. The standard rifle is
capable of having a sight attached on top.
Light Repeating Blaster
The Blastech T-21 Light Repeating Blaster is an Imperial blaster used for jobs
where a standard rifle would be inadequate. The T-21 is
more powerful then the standard E-11 and is a common support weapon for
stormtrooper armies. Most artillery squads have at one soldier armed with a T-21
to provide cover for other troops as they prepare heavy-duty artillery weapons,
such as the E-Web. Due to it's portability, the T-21 was
issued to Rebel Squads, and it is still used by New Republic units.
The T-21 is actually one of the weaker artillery weapons. Heavy and Medium
blasters have much more firepower than the T-21; however, they are often bulky
and require more then a single person to operate. The heavy and medium blaster
often take several minutes the set up of disassemble, and hence are unpopular.
The T-21, however, is designed for mobility and ease of use. The weapon can
be set up, with it's belt carried tripod and 20 kilogram backpack generator
within 30 seconds. If necessary, the blaster can also be fired by a two-handed
soldier for extra mobility, however, the tripod significantly improved accuracy.
The tripod can be fully extended to act as an artillery weapon, but it can also
be partially extended for sniper attacks. The T-21 has an exceptional range as
well, with a maximum distance of 300 meters and an optimum range of 150 meters.
Rebel squads used T-21s to eliminate weapon emplacements and to provide over for
advancing infantry.
The T-21 can be powered by power packs or generators. The power packs provide
very little energy, giving the weapon sufficient power for twenty-five shots.
The continuous-feed power generator, normally carried as a backpack, give the
T-21 potentially unlimited firing capabilities. However, the generator's low
cooling capacity force the T-21 to fire at a rate of 1 shot per second.
The T-21 has proved to be invaluable in infantry battles. The T-21 wields
power to cut through armour troops used by Stormtroopers or break down
force fields. T-21s can also break through armour plating used on light combat
vehicles, such as landspeeders. An experienced gunman can use the T-21 to
eliminate enemy squads in seconds.
Sporting Blaster
Sporting Blasters are among the weakest weapons in the alliance, used for
hunting small creatures or for personal defense. These blasters are among the
few weapons legal for civilian use, even on planets with very stringent weapons
control laws. Two of the top selling models of sporting blasters are the
Defender and the MerrSam "Quick 6." Due to their nonlethal firepower, sporting blasters are used for archaic 'honor duels' in cultures. Being considered as an
aristocratic weapon, and often used as a ceremonial object rather than
practical, the blasters are sidearms for nobles, diplomats and ambassadors.
The Defender's uses lower-tech components and sells for 350 credits, whereas
most blasters cost over five hundred. The Defender uses minimal blaster gas and
relies on a small power pack to power blasts. Each bolt produced very little
destructive energy, and only a direct hit is capable of killing a human. The
Defender does not have a sophisticated electronic targeting scope, rather, it
uses a simple sight for aim.
Because the Defender heavily relies on it's power pack, the weapon as an
optimal range of 30 meters, and a maximum range of 60. A power surge dampener is
required to protect the actuating blaster module, and several sophisticated
components are used to maintain the blaster bolt's cohesion. This includes
enhanced galven circuitry modules in the barrel, focusing coils in the final
starge collimator barrel, and a galven ring in the emitter nozzle. An extended
cooling coil sleeve protects these components for intense heat.
While the Defender is very weak, it does have a number of advantages. The
weapon's power packs can be changed very quickly, and the internal computer is
capable of automatically repairing minor malfunctions. The Defender's slim and
inconspicuous design makes it perfect for concealment, and as a result, many
nobles have clothing with special pockets to hide the weapon from view. If
necessary, a three-digit code can be entered into the access panel above the
trigger to release the locking clamps and magnetic fasteners, splitting the
weapon into three parts- the handle/power pack, the body/blaster components, and
the barrel. These parts can be reassembled within 10 seconds.
Jawa Blaster
The Jawas of Tatooine are scrap collectors, combing the deserts of their planet for droids and spare parts.
Typical of these nomads, their blasters are built from a mixture of mismatched
components found on their voyages. These parts are haphazardly wired together in
ways that defy the manufacturer's specifications. In their dank workshops, Jawa
mechanics strip a blaster rifle of all of it's internal parts except for it's
power pack. Laser components are replaced with a droid-restraining bolt and an
accu-accelerator, the latter of which is taken from a capital ship's ion drive.
When the blaster is fired, the power pack triggers the internal retraining
bolt which releases an ion stream configured to broadcast the bolt's 'halt'
command, which under normal circumstances forces a droid to stop. However, the
accu-accelerator dramatically amplifies the stream, thus creating a high-energy
ion burst of electrical energy which races over the droid's exterior and
overwhelms it's circuitry, completely shutting down the target.
Like the rest of the Jawa tools, these blasters are unreliable. While they
prove to be effective when they are working, the blasters and prone to
malfunctions, of which most importantly are explosions.
The blaster is a fragile tool which is easily broken or thrown out of a
alignment. The optimum range of the blaster is eight meters, with a maximum
range of twelve. Aiming is quite simple as the ion stream is widely dispersed.
The blast deactivates the droid for up to twenty minutes with no permanent
damage. When fired at an organism, the blast causes no injury; however, it can
inflict a painful sting when used at close range.
Bowcaster
The Bowcaster is a weapon which combines both modern and ancient technologies.
The Bowcaster is the traditional weapon of the Wookies of Kashyyyk. While the
weapon is difficult to use for other alien species, the Bowcaster is devastating
when in the hands of a wookie warrior.
While the weapon is less advanced then a blaster pistol, it still delivers an
equivalent amount of damage. The weapon is basically a magnetic accelerator with
twin polizers. When fired, the polizers use alternating polarity pulses to
accelerate a highly tensile metal bowsctring and thus propels an explosive
quarrel at an extremely high speed. Being wrapped in an energy envelope which
channels the quarrel's explosive force into the target, the bolt gives the
appearance of an elongated blaster bolt.
Tremendous strength is required to cock the weapon which notches the
bowstring and loads a quarrel from the ammo cartridge. The primitive aiming
system greatly limits the bowcaster's rate of fire; hence, in places emphasis on
the Wookie's patience and marksmanship, as it may take time to fire the next
shot. Some Wookies have modified their weapon by adding multiple bowstrings,
dual blows, or an automatic recocking system. When the Empire occupied Kashyyyk,
Wookies often bolted blaster rifles to their bowcasters for extra firepower.
Bowcasters are designed to be use in the jungles of the wookie home world of
Kasyyyk. The Bowcaster has good stopping power for taking out dangerous
preditors; however, the weapon has a limited range- an optimum range of thirty
meters and a maximum range of fifty. When not in use, the bowcaster can be
disassembled and carried in a utility pouch; when needed, it can be reassembled
in less than a minute. Wookies use bandoliers to carry the power packs,
cannisters of blaster gas, and spare ammunition cartriges which hold six quarrels
each.
If needed, the bowcaster can be fired manually as well. This is done by
moving the reserve spring into position and fashioning a bowstring from a
meter-long length of kthysh vine. Many warriors carry a treated kthysh vine in
their pouches for emergencies. When used in this fashion, the range of the
bowcaster is cut to thirty meters, but it can fire standard explosive quarrels
or simple crossbolts carved from wood.
Bowcasters are built into the culture of Kashyyyk. They are hand-crafted by
master weapon crafters. As a young Wookie is completing the adulthood rites of
passage, the are bestowed with the weapon. This tradition has endured for
thousands or years. A warrior's bowcaster is considiered to a visible symbol of
his or her courage and honor. The weapon is often engraved with clan markings
and pictographs depicting a warrior's greatest accomplishments.
During their occupation, the Empire enslaved many of the crafters in Kasyyyk.
After Kashyyyk joined the New Republic, the weapon builders were again free to
continue crafting these weapons while training new apprentices to carry on their
proud tradition.
Ascension Gun
A standard Naboo sidearm, this Security S-5 blaster pistol has more to it then meets the eye. A versatile weapon, the S-5 has twin scopes, one for sighting and one for rangefinding. It's a multi-purpose Dart launcher that can house both anaesthetic microdarts and grappling hook tips. With the grappling hooks comes a liquid-cable shooter attachment. The cable reservoir holds enough liquid to form 20 meters of cable.
