Remote
Remote is a broad word to describe an entire class of restricted automatons.
These automatons have no independent initiative, and only act on orders given by
their owners. Like droids, remotes possess a limited degree of intelligence and
draw on a library of preprogrammed instructions and past experience to complete
their tasks. The remote itself is a fifteen centimeter diameter sphere which is
covered with maneuvering thrusters, laser emitters, and sensors.
The onboard computer housed inside the remote is programmed with numerous
combat drills. Each drill ends after a present time or when a score has been
reached. The trainee sets his blaster to emit light only so as not to damage the
remote. The sensors on the remote automatically detect light and score it as a
hit. For novice-levels, the remote moves slowly and the stun blasters are not
used. However, at expert settings, the remote is able to weave around the
opponent going full speed and constantly fires stinging stun blasts. Marksman-H
remotes are also excellent for lightsaber drills-
because the remote's stun blasts have a greater reach than lightsaber's blade,
the trainee must deflect numerous stun blasts while waiting for an opportunity
to retaliate.
The stun blasters are variable on the remote, and vary from light discharges
which are merely sensed to full-intensity beams which can numb a limb for
several minutes. The selected difficulty level determines the remote's firing
rate, which can be set to speeds up to twice per second. The accuracy is also
variable, but the advanced settings use very precise targeting for better
practice dodging attacks.
For movement, the remote uses a small repulsorlift generator which can
achieve a top speed of twenty-five kilometers per hour. Eight maneuvering thrusters make the remote extremely nimble; combined with it's fast acceleration
and deceleration make for an unpredictable practice.
Remotes are rarely used offensively, however, Imperial cities are known to
carry some to swarm and surprise enemies
